1st Heathfield Scouts meet at two main locations. We have our own scout land at Wills Wood, on Ghyll Road in Heathfield. We also meet at Cross In Hand CEP school, up the hill from Wills Wood on Sheepsetting Lane.Map & directions
Wills Wood is named after one of our Scouts, William Pearce. He fought leukaemia through Beavers, Cubs and into Scouts. He lost his battle at just 11 years old.
Wills Wood features a gated and fenced safe, wide open space for camping and activities, with a further adventure area below the field. We have a campfire circle as well as hard standing for making fires on. We also have a store of kit, toilets, kitchen, meeting room, electricity and running water. The site has night lighting and is protected by constantly recording CCTV cameras.
Wills Wood also has direct access to the many trails and footpaths around the village, ideal for exploring. It is also situated only 100 meters from the National Cycle Network, Route 21 from London to Eastbourne. Route 21 is also a part of the Avenue Verte from the London Eye to Notre Dame in Paris. This close location combined with an excellent cycle shop in Heathfield, Cycle Revival for any parts / repairs. We also have local supermarkets, butchers, bakers and greengrocers as well as restaurants and cafes. For more details on the town visit heathfield.net. All this makes Wills Wood a wonderful place for cycling Scouts and Guides to stop off.
